Evaluations

With the change to the Little League format and games starting for some players approximately the first of May, we are going to hold evaluations earlier than in the past. We have space reserved at Williston Fitness Center in Minnetonka (see link below with directions). The dates are Tuesday, March 16^th for Little League ages 9 and 10 (see note below regarding 8 year old evaluations)  and Tuesday, March 30^th for Little League ages 11 and 12 and Koufax ages 13 and 14.  Exact times for both sessions are indicated below. Space and time is limited so we will ask parents to be on time and to wait for their kids to complete the evaluation and leave when they are done.
 
The evaluations will consist of hitting, pitching, running and fielding stations. Your player should bring a glove and wear tennis shoes. The space has a gym floor so no baseball cleats or black soled shoes will be allowed.  Players may bring their own bat and helmet otherwise one will be provided.
 
Indoor evaluations will only apply for players’ ages 9 through 14. Players’ ages, 15 & 16 (Mantle) and, 7 & 8 (Rookie League) will have their evaluations outside at a later date. You will receive more information as these evaluation dates draw closer.  8 year olds who wish to play in the A-Minor League must tryout on March 16th.  Those 8 years olds who have played at least one year of Rookie League (Machine Pitch) and have the skill level as determined at evaluations will be moved to the A-Minor level, if space is available.  Contact VP@HamelBaseball.com to make a play-up request (see Home page) for an 8 year old wanting to play in A-minor.  All 8 year olds who do not desire to play in the A-minor level will be informed of the later evaluation date for the Rookie League.   
 
Look for the follow up emails in early March or check the website for more details.  Please understand that your player must be evaluated on the dates indicated to assure they are placed at the proper skill level.  If you have a scheduling conflict exceptions will be made, on a very limited basis, to allow players to try out on the date other than the one you are scheduled.  To reschedule for Little League please e-mail VP@HamelBaseball.com your request and for Koufax e-mail  Koufax@HamelBaseball.com .

Evaluation Dates and Times

Tuesday, 3/16

4:15 to 5:45 – 9 year olds (including 8 year olds having requested to play-up)

5:45 to 6:45 – 10 year olds

Tuesday, 3/30

4:15 to 5:15 – 11 year olds

5:15 to 5:45 – 12 year olds

5:45 to 6:45 – 13 and 14 year olds

A COPY OF ALL PLAYERS CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATES WILL BE REQUIRED AT EVALUATIONS.  COPIES ARE NEEDED TO DETERMINE PROPER AGE FOR LEAGUE PLAY AND FOR QUALIFICATION INTO TOURNAMENT PLAY.
