All Stars

In 2010 Hamel will have four (4) all-star teams—all of which are based on age.  The Hamel Little League Board will consult with all regular season head coaches (with input from their assistants) in selecting the teams. 

The coaches will rate all of their players on selected hitting, fielding, throwing, catching, and pitching skills.  In addition, intangibles such as attitude, baseball IQ, effort and “coachability” will also be assessed.  In cases where two or more kids are given the same or about the same rating, the board—with input from the all-star coaches as well as the player’s regular season coaches--will make a final decision.

The following all-star teams will be competing in 2010:

• Ages 8-9 in Crystal (Eddie Leuthner, Head Coach)
• Ages 9-10 in Brooklyn Center (Jason Prondzinski, Head Coach)
• Ages 10-11 in Coon Rapids (Glen Prodahl, Head Coach)
• Ages 11-12 in Coon Rapids (Henry VanDellen, Head Coach)—This is the team that plays for the right to represent Hamel in the Little League World Series

Those selected will be notified by their all-star coaches no earlier than June 16.  All-star teams will compete July 8-July 15, 2010.  There will be a $50 fee to play on an all-star team, which covers basic equipment and tournament fees and uniforms.
