Rules and Policies
**NEW** EVENT and FIELD MAINTENANCE FEE
In order to keep registration fees for Hamel Baseball at a minimum and still provide a good experience for our players we must fund priorities over and above those normally associated with our kids playing baseball. Specifically, as described below, we need to staff Hamel Athletic Club sponsored events, provide a portion of labor and materials needed to maintain our fields and, assist coaches in organizing and communicating team activities. A $20 fee will be charged to each family participating in Hamel Baseball. The fee will be collected at registration.
Events
Hamel Rodeo – Held annually in early July the Hamel Rodeo is the largest rodeo in the state of Minnesota. The proceeds from the 4 day event are split between a several community organizations including the Hamel Athletic Club (HAC). HAC supports the rodeo by providing volunteers in a number of areas including concession sales and light maintenance.
Tournaments – HAC annually sponsors 1 or 2 weekend tournaments as an added experience for our players. Typically tournaments require a number of volunteers to do such things as registration, field maintenance and clean-up.
Field Maintenance
In conjunction with the City of Medina, HAC is responsible for some of the upkeep and maintenance of 11 playing fields. HAC is charged a fee for field use which offsets some of the costs to maintain the fields. In addition, HAC is responsible for supplying volunteers for the general upkeep of the fields.
Team Manager
To aid in communication and organization of team activities a "Team Manager" will be added to all teams. Team Managers will assist the coaches and will be the lead person to help coordinate team activities.
FEE OFFSET
The Hamel Athletic Club offers numerous opportunities to volunteer during the baseball season. Please visit the REGISTRATION section of this web site for a list of opportunities. Event and Field Maintenance shifts are available for those who wish to volunteer. Shifts are 4 hours or less and are spread out throughout the baseball season. Also, each team will be looking for a Team Manager. Those families who volunteer for one 4 hour shift or as a Team Manager will receive a $20 gift card from a local merchant at the end of the season.
