Coaches:
There have been some questions / confusion around rain-outs and rescheduling games. In an attempt to clarify this, please see the following:
1. Generally given our limited field space and the number of games we have per week past the second week of May 3, we do not have flexibility to reschedule rainouts globally. If you as the coach want to reschedule a game you are free to do so and the procedures to do it are listed below.
2. Procedures for Rainouts-
· Games cancelled before 4:00
o Mike Rowan the Director of Fields will publish the conditions of the Hamel fields by 4:00 on the day of the practice / game to let you know if they are playable (www.hamelbaseball.com).
o For LL Jason McAthie will contact the other organization to let them know of the rainout as well as contact umpires.
· Games cancelled after 4:00
o It is up to the coach to determine if the game will be played if conditions deteriorate.
o If cancelled and the game was at Hamel, the coach is responsible for
- Contacting the coach of the opposing team to let them know of the cancellation (contact information for other organizations is attached. You may have to search their website for coaches information)
- Cancelling the Umpire by sending an email to Chuck Triggs at acctriggs@juno.com by 5:00 to cancel the umpire. In the email, provide
- Date
- Time of game
- Field location
- Ask for an email confirmation from him to be sent back to you confirming he got the cancellation notice
3. Rescheduling –
· Our field space is very limited on the nights we have reserved the fields and have communicated that Hamel Baseball Plays (Monday – Thursday). If you want to try to schedule a game on a Friday – Sunday, you are free to do so, but you will need to get agreement from your parents as well as work with the city of Medina to reserve a field (see attached form). Additionally, grooming may not be available on the weekends.
· If you as the coach want to reschedule a game you are able to by completing the following:
o Contact Jason McAthie (jason.mcathie@healthtel.net ) to determine if a field is available between Monday – Thursday.
o Call city for space Friday - Sunday Permit Application
o If space is available, contact other coach directly to set date and time for game.
o When date and time set, send Jason McAthie an email (jason.mcathie@healthtel.net) confirming date of game, teams, field and time. Jason will coordinate getting you an umpire.
4. Contacting Coaches from other Organizations-
· Updated LL list is attached, you may have to search their website to find coaches name. Some organizations would not provide us a roster of their coaches.
