Policy on Playing-Up
Each year we receive numerous requests to allow players to play-up to a higher league than their age bracket. Our policy on playing-up is listed below.
Players can play-up at the T, D, & C-Ball levels as long as they have the skills to play at the higher level and there is space available in the higher league. Priority is always given to age appropriate players. If it is determined that the requesting player does not have the skills needed to play in the higher league, or there is not space in the higher league, the player will be dropped back to their age-appropriate level. Players who want to "play-up" in C-Ball can register for that league and send an email to registration@hamelbaseball.com stating their intentions. Anyone who intends to play C-Ball will need to attend C-Ball evaluations (mid-April) and a decision on them playing up will be made shortly after that.
For players who want to play-up to B, A, & AA-Ball, our standard policy is against it. If you feel that the players circumstances are unique and you would like an exception to be granted, you can petition the Board to do so. Priority is always given to age appropriate players. The process to petition the Board is this: Register the player for the appropriate league. Send an email to registration@hamelbaseball.com with a written request to play-up and include all information pertinent to your request. Attend evaluations for the higher league. Wait for the Board to make a decision on your request, probably mid to late April. If accepted into the higher league you will be billed for the difference in registration.
Coaching Info
Hamel Baseball has changed the way coaches and assistants form teams in C-Ball and above. The new policy is that a Head Coach can select 1 Assistant Coach prior to the team drafts. Head Coaches will then be responsible for picking up an additional Assistant Coach via the player draft. If you have questions on this new policy, please send an email to: mail@hamelbaseball.com
